On the occasion of the Antwerp Art Nocturne, Axel Vervoordt Gallery and Inspiratum proudly present 'Unravelling', a musical improvisation performance by Peter Merckx on his bass clarinet.

Parallel to Yun Hyong-keun's quest for the essence of nature, Peter Merckx captures the essence of sound. With a pure sound as a starting point, he concentrates on systematically unravelling the timbral spectra of his bass clarinet by manipulating two aspects: echo and harmony.
In this way, and with a simple composition based on square fields in earthy colour tones, he gives a voice to muted timbres and frees colours from the background.
