This exhibition presents a selection of scale models – maquettes – made by Narcisse Tordoir that are part of a donation of over one hundred scale models. The maquettes – made between 1989 and 1996 – are tangible demonstrations of a unique working process and of the transformations of forms, motifs, and thoughts. These works to scale are more than three-dimensional sketches or technical renderings; they testify of the search for new perspectives and ways to look at painting.
