In their first solo exhibition, "Een Stelling", Dora Brams (b. 2000, Antwerp) questions the role of the art object as a temporary placeholder. The point of departure is the gray area between the accessible and the inaccessible in official institutions. Government buildings such as the Royal Palace, the Palace of Justice, and the Palace of the Nation serve as spatial examples of this authoritarian contradiction. Brams uses temporary, functional objects (such as trestles, coat racks, and notice boards) which, in their reinforcing function, also obstruct. A central image of the exhibition are the endless hallways of the Palace of Justice, where one navigates past furniture that blocks off corridors and doors.
