During Family Day, you decide how to experience your visit. Wander freely, join an activity, or linger wherever it feels right. Explore art together with your family or friends in a playful way, with attention to experiencing, discovering and sharing the moment.
Family Days mark the beginning of each season and give families the chance to discover and experience the new exhibitions together. The upcoming editions take place on 12 July and 15 November.
This event is only in Dutch.
Programme
The Salon – we refused_d: Traces and gestures
Floor 1 | 11:00-17:00
Step into the Salon and experiment at your own pace. Play with materials, questions and gestures, and discover unexpected ways of engaging with the themes of we refused_d. What you make or leave behind grows along with the traces of others. Some things are tangible, others remain unspoken. Take your time, or drop in briefly and move on again. A guide is present from 13:00 to 17:00.
M HKADEE Toddler Tour – An extraterrestrial world
Ground floor | 11:15-12:15
A separate ticket is required for this activity and the number of participants per group is limited. This edition is unfortunately sold out, but you can look here to take part on another date.
Join your toddler on a magical journey through the museum! Discover a world full of shapes, colours and surprises: fly to the moon, meet a little astronaut and explore strange planets with all your senses. Look, feel, listen and move together: kneading, playing with light and mirrors, and coming to rest among soft sounds
Family Tour – we refused_d & Cosmic Body (6+)
Ground floor and Floor 2 | 13:30-14:30 & 15:30-16:30
Set out with your family to explore we refuse_d and Cosmic Body, guided by a guide who accompanies you. Look closely, feel what is happening, draw what you see and try the assignments alongside the artworks. Gather impressions, ideas and little pieces of yourself as you walk, and discover what matters to you and where you feel at home.
Workshop in collaboration with HOPE Foundation
Floor 6 | 14:00-17:00
Take part in a workshop in which children and adults create something together: building, drawing, printing or experimenting with sound and movement. Inspired by works made by children in Gaza, you discover how dreams, memories and resilience can become visible in art. Each edition has its own emphasis and enters into dialogue with the exhibitions.
Collage workshop – Palettes of Palestine (in collaboration with HOPE Foundation)
Floor 6 | 14:00-17:00
Palettes of Palestine highlights personal stories, art and the culture of Palestine. In this collage workshop you will work with photographs from Gaza and create a new world by cutting, pasting and combining.
The workshop invites you to discover what connects us. We share dreams, feelings and fears, we play, celebrate and love. By making and imagining together, these stories are given a new form.
Pop-up screen-printing workshop – My backpack
Ground floor | 13:00-15:30
In our screen-printing workshop, you print an image by artist Stef Van Looveren on a rucksack, in which a seed or a face appears. The seed stands for growth and potential, the face for strength and character. Rucksacks can be purchased at reception for €3. You may also bring something yourself to print on. In collaboration with screen-printing workshop Rombus.
Waffles and ice creams
M HKAFE | 14:00-17:00
A Family Day is also a day to enjoy together. Take a break in the M HKAFE with something tasty, and let your visit continue gently in a relaxed atmosphere.
