This year, Baloji is not only taking the MoMu Gallery by storm with his magical realism. The transdisciplinary artist is also curating a series of nocturnes at the museum.
The exhibition 'Augurism.' is inspired by Baloji’s first feature film 'Augure', award recipient at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival and the official Belgian entry to the 2024 Oscars. With images, props, costumes and videos from his past and contemporary archives, visitors are immersed in his universe.
The film 'Augure' also generated a monumental sound project, a four-part EP totalling 36 songs, written from the point of view of the four main characters in the film.
On 14 June, the artist performs several songs off his new album project at MoMu to celebrate the end of 'Augurism.' Joining him for a special performance of their duet, 'Matrone', is Cape Verdean singer Mayra Andrade, who will be in town for her concert at De Roma, Antwerp. The evening wraps up with a DJ set by Zoey Hasselbank.
