You are cordially invited to attend the transportation of the egg of Kasper De Vos, as a part of the installation "The Egg Terror in the Manufactory” and “Factory”, both on view at the exhibition Mad Meg: rebellion – provocation – despair – feminism.
This installation shows the production process of egg-shaped sculptures created according to certain operations and pseudo-traditional methods. Using the stucco technique to turn plaster objects, this “atelier” shows us how the sculptures are “fabricated”. When an egg shape is ready, it is transported to the Antwerp Art Pavilion, where it will fit perfectly in an enlarged egg carton. Then, the sculptures are ready for consumption.
De Vos responds to the “egg shapes” from the painting Dulle Griet. He touches on the mercantile nature of the oeuvre of Bruegel, who, together with his sons, copied and manufactured his prints “battery cage-wise” in order to meet the demand.
