Antwerp-based food, art and music initiative Table Dance take over the kitchen at M HKA for 3 months, from Friday to Sunday each week, as well as the last Thursday evenings of each month. Their residency takes place in the framework of the Museum in Motion exhibition, responding to the different artistic positions on display with a weekly special menu and a series of events. Visitors will experience a vivacious and surprising menu where local influences meet the international, and of the quality that brought them to the attention of both the Antwerp restaurant-going public and artistic scene.
Founded by cook Michelle Woods and electronic music producer Roman Hiele, Table Dance functioned as a bar, a live music venue and an eating spot at Sint-Paulusplaats, close by the neighbourhood of the red light district and old centre of Antwerp. They held numerous events at the space, as well as week-long residencies for young aspiring cooks. Adapting their approach to new scenarios, every week the menu changed, and every week at least one special thing happened — a live electronic or acoustic performance, a play, Halloween, a celebration of Antwerp Art Weekend, or someone’s birthday. Since March 2021, Table Dance has become a nomadic operation.
Table Dance are offering both a world kitchen and an international line-up of musicians and DJs. With food available all day, expect such dishes as Ewa agoyin bean stew, Meatloaf with kriekskes and mash, Bouef Bourguignon, and the dish Forest Diary (greens, rice and Sichuan spice) on the menu. Their series of events will take place each Sunday, offering eclectic Sunday afternoon vibes.
