12 March
π 19:00 β 20:00
On 12 March we welcome photographer and artist Igor Chekachkov to the Aula of Sint Lucas Antwerpen.
Chekachkov began his career in 2008 as a photojournalist and later developed an artistic practice in which he explores the boundaries between public and private space, as well as the impact of digital technologies on the image. Following the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, his work shifted toward themes of identity, displacement, and the notion of home.
During this talk, he will discuss his recently published book 100 Days of War. When Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, he was forced to leave his hometown of Kharkiv. From the very first day, he began collecting photographs and notes, creating a personal record of war and displacement from the inside.
100 Days of War explores the tension between memory and documentation, the limits of photographic truth, and the search for meaning in times of destruction.
