Looking Forward: New Talent Exhibition

IBASHO concludes its 10th anniversary year. Where the celebrations began with Looking Back, the gallery now shines a spotlight on new and emerging talent in the group exhibition Looking Forward.

The following recently discovered photographers are presented through the gallery for the first time: the painterly work of Sougetu Hata (1965); the photographed bodies overlaid with layers of plants and flowers by Yoko Mazuki (1963); Ryosuke Toyama’s (1980) experimental photography in Tempusgraph; the sepia-toned landscapes of Ali Uchida (1987); the work of Junko Hirano (1955), who uses traditional washi paper as a backdrop for photographic layers; the focus on cherry blossoms in A New River by Ai Iwane (1975); and Hayato Takekoshi (1987), who captures his altered perception shaped by a brain disorder.

The artists Junko Hirano and Ryosuke Toyama will be present during the vernissage on Saturday 24 January from 2 - 6 pm.
