From 14:00, the gallery presents an exhibition of works by the late Vered Ben-Kiki ; beloved artist, percussionist, dancer, and graphic designer. In the 1990s, Vered performed in several groups directed by Luc Mishalle and created striking CD cover artwork, continuing as recently as 2018. She also provided the graphics for the video Marockin' Brass – Jilali Bouhalam (YouTube).
At 17:00, the evening continues with a live performance by Donkey Diesel, an Antwerp-based Belgian band blending swing, jazz, boogie, klezmer, country, blues, ragtime, and polka. Vered joined Donkey Diesel’s 2018 Gusto Sessions, performing alongside Stef Kamil Carlens and Alain Rylant. Her voice is present on many of those recordings — on one, she takes the lead. That same year, together with Nel Ponsaers, she translated Leonard Nolens’ poem “Manneke Pis” into Hebrew. The result: the haunting piece “Jeanneke Pis est morte.”
Join us in celebrating Vered’s enduring creative spirit through this special meeting of music, memory, and art.
The Band is photographed by Christine Clinckx.
