Frances Scott uses moving image and text in her work, presented in different ways like installations, projections, performances and publications. She often looks into the material that surrounds a movie, things like a script, fragments of the making of, technical apparatuses,… She then uses these as a means to propose a film, composing it out of its metonymic fragments.
During Ten Slotte she will present a new work ‘Incantation, Wendy’, wherein she contemplates Stanley Kubrick’s film ‘A Clockwork Orange’. Frances Scott’s research focuses on the film’s pioneering soundtrack made by musician and composer Wendy Carlos. She oversaw the development of the Moog Synthesizer alongside Robert Moog. Frances Scott uses this history as a starting point to look at one of the shooting locations of ‘A Clockwork Orange’, examining the relationships between the music and architecture of the location, the urban landscape and the wildlife, the synthetic and the natural.
