The exhibition features new works created over the past three years. All are
collages: drawings, photo prints, watercolour on paper, double layered oil on
canvas, and a video installation. Striking are the cut outs, throughout all
works; it reveal layers of construction and demolition, discovery and
concealment. Questions about human values, a safe home, both physical
and conceptual, and intercultural aesthetics arise from the images. In times
of global turbulence and uncertainty; in a noisy world where destruction
reigns, the search for silence, where peace can return and where the
beginnings of change can emerge, is essential. Art can help one find stability
and new meaning, and can be a healing tool for processing trauma,
organising thoughts, and recording historical events. Art helps to understand
experiences, manage stress through reflection, and suggests new
perspectives, time and time again.
