‘VIRGO’ a new exhibition by photographer and director Casper Sejersen, delves deep into the enigmatic essence of a woman fallen from grace.
Slowly and carefully, Sejersen’s lens unravels the intricate layers of her being through a series of video frame grabs as our anti-heroine is captured in a single fleeting moment in time. Unguarded and at ease, we find our protagonist in a simple setting, sitting on a mattress placed on soil, alone with at rose, as we witness the fragmented yet compelling facets of her persona; each framing offering a glimpse into her complex psyche.
Gradually, her unruly character reveals itself beneath the quintessential traits associated with her zodiac sign - meticulous, analytical and deeply introspective. Yet, beneath her composed exterior lies a world of untamed passion and longing.
Rose perfume and cheap cigarettes- Porcelain skin and gritty makeup, fingers dipped in soil. A paradoxical blend of order and chaos, navigating the delicate balance between control and spontaneity.
Through Sejersen’s masterful light, shadow and composition, each framing finds moments of quiet contemplation to burst of uninhibited joy. As visitors journey through the exhibition, they are invited to ponder the complexities and demands of femininity, and the timeless allure of this zodiac archetype.
‘VIRGO’ serves as a testament to the enduring fascination with the female spirit and the boundless depths and sensuality of human experience.
