The Belgian artist Christophe Lezaire (°1963) lives and works in Brussels. In his artistic practice, he collects and reuses everyday objects, transforming them into poetic compositions rich in layered meanings. What at first glance appears playful and colorful gradually reveals a subtle reflection on how objects function as carriers of memory, communication, and identity.
Lezaire’s work moves along the boundary between collage and assemblage. By dismantling and reassembling materials, he creates visual dialogues in which chance, humor, and precision intersect. His sculptures and installations can be read as signals, transmitters and receivers that convey stories, while also exposing disruptions and misunderstandings.
The title of his new solo exhibition at Rik Rosseels Gallery in Antwerp, Voyage Voyage, refers to an ongoing quest: a journey through forms, meanings, and materials. For Lezaire, travel is not merely a physical movement but also a mental exercise in observing, collecting, and reinterpreting. Every object he finds bears traces of a previous life and in his hands it becomes a new story.
Christophe Lezaire is represented by Kristof De Clercq Gallery (Ghent). With thanks to the gallery for their collaboration and support in the realization of this exhibition
