'we dreamt of utopia and woke up screaming (all before… all after…)' by Yasmina Reggad explores radio as a tool for liberation. The exhibition transforms an archive of revolutionary voices into a living, sonic space where past and present struggles intertwine. By amplifying echoes of activism – primarily sourced from archival material of the Algerian National Radio (RTA) from the 1970s and 1980s –, Reggad highlights the ongoing need for resistance and solidarity. The work invites audiences to listen, engage, and imagine alternative futures. Following Silent Times, which examined oppression and silenced voices, this installation shifts focus to militant voices, fostering a resonant space for political engagement.
The opening of 'we dreamt of utopia and woke up screaming (all before… all after…)' takes place during the event 'Break the Silence'.
