The color violet is at one end of the spectrum of visible light, between blue light, which has a longer wavelength, and ultraviolet light, which has a shorter wavelength and is not visible to the human eye.
As a new space for contemporary art in Antwerp, Violet offers a platform to artists whose work is action- or process-based. Within the walls of the old bakery shop in the Eugeen Joorsstraat, we invite the viewer to an intimate, playful, and sometimes unsettling experience. Besides exploring the possibilities for engaging viewers to interact closely with the installations presented, Violet seeks to establish a platform for dialogue, discussion, and experiment.
Violet is an initiative of Liesbet Grupping and Vildana Memic.
