At the beginning of 2026, the galleries Hopstreet Gallery Brussels and IN-DEPENDANCE by IBASHO will exchange gallery spaces. To our knowledge, taking over each other’s spaces has not often occurred in the Belgian gallery world.

The two galleries got to know each other at the Art Antwerp fair, which has taken place during the second week of December since 2021. Both galleries are run by a married couple, and the idea emerged to occupy each other’s gallery space for the duration of one exhibition. This will take place in January and February 2026.
The gallery space of IN-DEPENDANCE by IBASHO is located in the Zuid district of Antwerp, between the FOMU and Nieuw Zuid, and Hopstreet will present the exhibition 'AN EYE ON POLAROIDS' there.

The concept of the exhibition 'AN EYE ON POLAROIDS' begins with a selection of Polaroid photographs from the Antwerp private collection DOUBLE D COLLECTION. The art collection of the couple focuses on artists’ self-portraits, with a particular interest in photography and painting.
The Polaroids from the DOUBLE D COLLECTION that we will present are by the following artists: Roger Ballen, Thorsten Brinkmann, Julie Cockburn, Vincent Delbrouck, Lara Gasparotto, Daido Moriyama, … and several anonymous photographers.
The following artists represented by the gallery will create special Polaroid works for the exhibition: Thorsten Brinkmann, Julie Cockburn, Sara Imloul, Noé Sendas, Berend Strik and Susanne Wellm.

Please note that after the opening weekend and for the duration of this exhibition the gallery space will be closed on the Sundays.
