Articulate 2023 I Ecosystems

ARTICULATE | ECOSYSTEMS is the eighth edition of the annual research festival of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp. In this edition, we reflect on the potential of art and artistic research in a world undergoing change. You can expect a diverse programme of performances, research classes, lectures, and workshops, a series of fragile and wonderful encounters with the ability of artists to repeatedly rethink their own practice and its position in the world.

PROGRAMME AT THE ACADEMY

Within the artistic research at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp, the relationship between art and ecology plays an increasingly important role. Based on the need to give ecology a permanent place within the Academy's fabric, we established the new interdisciplinary research group ‘Art & Ecology’, which will be launched during the research festival ARTICULATE I ECOSYSTEMS.

To inspire a young generation of artists to delve deeper into the theory and practice of eco-art or to even move with their own practice into the field of art and ecology, ARTICULATE I ECOSYSTEMS presents a comprehensive programme that encourages critical reflection and engagement.

18:00 ‘Carved to flow – Germination’, artist Otobong Nkanga in dialogue with eco-philosopher Emanuele Coccia
