Diane Bogaerts

Avalanche

Eva Steynen is excited to announce the solo exhibition 'Avalanche' by Diane Bogaerts (°1946). The exhibition consists of an entirely new series of collages and large oil paintings. Avalanche refers to the physical flows in nature and live and the temporality of our existence.
The human body is seen as a natural landscape, the figures dismanteld becoming almost abstract. We are part of nature. Next to the large human-scaled paintings, the collages show a depth in seeing and experiencing. They depict disquieting tensions below the black and white surface.

Bogaerts' body of work evokes a sense of detachment centered around the human body; paintings and drawings transcending the individual experience of the painter. Bogaerts figures are almost abstract, with references to the human body out of ancient cultures, exploring notions of memory and imagination, through a poetic approach to stillness and movement.

Diane Bogaerts (°1946, works and lives in Antwerp) was almost 50, when starting her career as a painter, after a career as a teacher. Her first exhibition was in 1992.
