Under the title 'Break the Silence', we will celebrate the closing of the 'Silent Times' exhibition during the weekend of March 28 and 29 with an exuberant program centered around the human voice. This also kicks off our new – thematically seamless – chapel exhibition.
March 28
19:00 Hoda Siahtiri and Azertyklavierwerke will perform 'Scream Manifesto', a sonic indictment against war, destruction, and the killing of both human and non-human beings. Through this ritual performance, they explore alternative forms of resilience and resistance.
20:00 Also opening in the chapel that evening is 'we dreamt of utopia and we woke up screaming (all after... all before...), a compelling performative installation by performance artist, author, researcher and dramaturg Yasmina Reggad. The installation transforms the exhibition space into a radio station and turns an archive of revolutionary voices into a living sonic space, amplifying past and present struggles to inspire resistance, solidarity, and alternative futures.
March 29
19:00 Paloma Bouhana presents 'Save Your Breath', a performance to harmonize our bank accounts. With this performance, Bouhana aims to transform personal financial realities into a collective reflection/prayer, breaking through money-related taboos.
20:00 The Antwerp Queer Choir presents 'RAGE/RAVE', an interactive music theater performance that explores the powerful role of voice and music in queer protest and expression. This mix of resistance and celebration draws energy from queer nightlife.
