A Unique Day for Artists Seeking to Deepen Their Practice

MASEREEL presents Crit & Connect, an event designed for professional artists eager for meaningful feedback, fresh perspectives, and community exchange. This one-day program combines personalized critique sessions with expert curators and fellow artists, hands-on technical demonstrations, and ample opportunities for networking and dialogue.

Building on MASEREEL’s residency program tradition—known for its in-depth meetings with visiting tutors and peer learning—Crit & Connect expands access to a broader community of artists who may not be in residence but seek critical engagement and inspiration for their work.

What to Expect?

  • One-on-One Critiques with Curators & Artists

At the heart of the program are two individual sessions of approximately 45 minutes each, where you present your work and artistic practice to both a curator and an experienced fellow artist. These sessions focus on open, in-depth feedback, constructive discussion, and exploring new perspectives.

-Visiting Curators:
Nicolaus Schafhausen – curator, author, and former director of Kunsthalle Wien
Stella Lohaus – director of LSS Paleis in Antwerp
Sorana Munsya – independant curator and writer with a focus on decolonial and intersectional perspectives

Visiting Artists:
Willem Oorebeek – artist known for printmaking and critical imagery
Kelly Schacht – multidisciplinary artist exploring space, context, and language
Melissa Gordon – artist and publisher working at the intersection of painting and printmaking

When applying, you indicate which curators and artists you wish to meet. MASEREEL ensures that every participant meets one curator and one visiting artist.

-Technical Demonstrations & Hands-On Inspiration

Beyond critiques, the day includes three short demonstrations introducing techniques central to MASEREEL’s graphic studio: RISO printing, laser cutting and UV printing

The demos are led by MASEREEL’s technical team, designed for artists wanting to explore new methods or expand their existing practice with graphic applications.

  • Peer Exchange & Networking

Crit & Connect also emphasizes peer exchange and community building. During lunch and coffee breaks, participants have space for informal conversations, sharing experiences, and building connections.

The MASEREEL team will be available throughout the day to answer questions, provide feedback, and offer studio tours. This provides an insider’s look at the residency possibilities and facilities.
