However, it is a well-known statement by Richard Serra, who expressed his belief that a drawing is not merely a finished product but embodies an entire process of creation. In line with this philosophy, Van Grimbergen's unpolished drawings capture the full dynamic of drawing—something he himself refers to as a dance. It is the immediacy of the 'dancing' that makes his drawings, despite the illusion of a pictorial space, appear distinctly concrete.
