Tramaine de Senna

Fire and Eyes

In her third solo exhibition, Tramaine de Senna presents new ceramic works and sketches. Her work interweaves material research with layered narratives, in which forms and meanings are constantly in flux. The exhibition emphasises the creative process, in which drawings transform into objects and textures reveal stories.

Bringing together new ceramic works and drawings, the exhibition extends de Senna’s ongoing inquiry into how culture represents itself, and what she has often described as the contest between the subject and its plastic forms. Across sculpture and drawing, meaning emerges through material decisions—weight, gravity, surface, and duration—rather than through fixed narratives.

Hand-built ceramic works, including cantilevered forms and small-scale studies, foreground both technical mastery and visible risk, while restrained drawings on primed canvas trace the migration of forms between abstraction and figuration. Installed across two gallery spaces, Fire and Eyes invites sustained looking and close encounter, allowing the appearance of things to unfold gradually and without prescription.
