de boer is pleased to present Bloom or Blast, a solo exhibition by Joke Hansen, opening 13 March 2026 in Antwerp. Bringing together new paintings, sculptural elements, and a site-responsive installation, the exhibition marks a significant moment in Hansen’s ongoing investigation of painting as a spatial, provisional, and rule-based practice. The exhibition reflects de boer’s ongoing focus on artists who treat painting as an expanded and experimental field while interacting with the gallery’s historic monument of a space, being the first brutalist building in Antwerp designed by Leon Stynen.

Joke Hansen (b. 1979, Bilzen, BE. Lives and works in Hasselt). Hansen has showcased her work in solo exhibitions such as Blame it on the Boogie at Whitehouse Gallery, Lovenjoel, and Between Canyons and Deserts at Z33, Hasselt. Her group exhibitions include de boer, Los Angeles; Performa 6 at Kunstplaats Vonk, Motel Corona at S.M.A.K., and Ballroom Project at Borgerhub, Antwerpen, among others, highlighting her strong presence in both Belgium and internationally.
