Extra Muros: Leon & Benny

For the 5th edition of Antwerp Art Weekend, Frans Masereel Centrum invited artists Leon Sadler and Benny Van den Meulengracht-Vranckx to a residency. In the Centrum for graphic arts in Kasterlee the duo developed numerous new, unique works. These will be shown during the exhibition Leon & Benny. Icing on the cake: the duo will present its new edition.

Turnhoutsebaan 124, Antwerp
Thursday: 18 - 21 h
Friday - Sunday: 12 - 18 h

Leon Sadler
His work has been exhibited from London to San Francisco, he has made a hoodie for Givenchy and worked with Nike and Vice Magazine. In addition, he co-runs Mould Map, a publications and exhibitions platform that quirkily combines new narrative-visual artforms – such as walk-in magazines – with speculations about the future. Leon Sadlers eclectic, subversive illustration practice is one to watch.

Benny Van den Meulengracht-Vrancx
Van den Meulengracht-Vrancx is an upcoming artist from Antwerp who multimedially contemplates seeing and being seen. He has already exhibited his work from Belgium to Italy and Norway and ran Hole of the Fox, which had been offering a workshop and exhibition platform to young blood, including Leon Sadler, for nearly a decade.

ATTENTION: Frans Masereel Centrum is playing an away game during Antwerp Art Weekend. Place to be is not the scenic countryside in Kasterlee, but Turnhoutsebaan 124, Antwerpen.

About Frans Masereel Centrum
Frans Masereel Centrum is a (recently renewed) print laboratory that not only propels the graphic and visual arts towards refreshing ideas and interpretations. FMC does this by putting on exhibitions, but even more by perfecting its residency program. In the extensive analogue and digital ateliers FMC’s residents not only develop new ideas and works, but also the foundations for close-knit international artists’ communities and networks.
