"Heat plays an important part in facilitating a colour change in organisms such as plants (for example the petals of the Hibiscus plant change colour from white to red because to heat). The sculptures introduce heat as a tangible element in the exhibition and as an experience for the viewer and the surrounding plant.
But heat also plays an important part in the process of painting. Specific pigments react differently to heat, for example some blue pigments turn rose or yellow. From the interest in colour changing processes, the sculptures function also as tools in the studio to capture these changing colours through heat."
