Amar Kanwar

RHIZOMA - Finissage

As finissage for the first edition of RHIZOMA, MASEREEL welcomes Indian artist Amar Kanwar and French curator Jean-Marie Gallais for an engaging conversation.

Amar Kanwar is known for his poetic films in which slowly unfolding stories are interwoven with metaphors, symbolism and lyrical imagery. Jean-Marie Gallais has been curator at the Pinault Collection since 2022, where he is currently working on a Thomas Schütte retrospective at Punta della Dogana, Venice (opening March 2025).

Thanks to Jean-Marie Gallais, the Pinault Collection bought the work The Peacock's Graveyard by Amar Kanwar-a poetic video installation with five fairy-tale stories, currently on view in European premiere as part of RHIZOMA.

The talk takes place on July 13 at 11:30 and is free for RHIZOMA ticket holders. Please register via this link.
