New season, new members

In Antwerp, the month of September traditionally marks the beginning of a new art season. After a well-deserved summer break, galleries and art spaces open their doors with an exciting array of new exhibitions and events. This season, we are honored to welcome three new members: IN-DEPENDANCE by IBASHO, Jacobs' Booth, and OUT OF SIGHT. Discover these valuable additions to our vibrant art scene and let yourself be inspired by their diverse programs.

In Antwerpen luidt de maand september traditioneel een nieuw kunstseizoen in. Na een welverdiende zomersluiting openen de galerieën en kunstruimtes hun deuren met een boeiende reeks nieuwe tentoonstellingen en evenementen. Dit seizoen hebben we de eer om drie nieuwe leden te verwelkomen: IN-DEPENDANCE by IBASHO, Jacobs' Booth en OUT OF SIGHT. Ontdek deze waardevolle toevoegingen aan onze bruisende kunstscene en laat je inspireren door hun uiteenlopende programma's.

IN-DEPENDANCE

We are excited to introduce IN-DEPENDANCE, the new gallery by Martijn van Pieterson and Annemarie Zethof, founders of IBASHO gallery. Located on the Waalse Kaai in Antwerp, this gallery focuses on photography but also provides space for other media that emphasize materiality, craftsmanship, and a refined aesthetic. While IBASHO specializes in Japanese artists, IN-DEPENDANCE primarily focuses on the work of Western artists.

We zijn verheugd om IN-DEPENDANCE te introduceren, de nieuwe galerie van Martijn van Pieterson en Annemarie Zethof, oprichters van IBASHO gallery. Gelegen aan de Waalse Kaai in Antwerpen, legt deze galerie de focus op fotografie, maar biedt ook ruimte aan andere media waarin materialiteit, vakmanschap en een ingetogen esthetiek centraal staan. Waar IBASHO zich specialiseert in Japanse kunstenaars, richt IN-DEPENDANCE zich voornamelijk op het werk van westerse kunstenaars.

Jacobs' Booth

Introducing Jacobs’ Booth, a refined and innovative platform that redefines the exhibition experience. Centered around a unique 1950s cubical exhibition unit and a complementary digital stage, Jacobs’ Booth is dedicated to the in-depth presentation of a single artwork at a time. Each piece, carefully selected by an invited curator, is thoroughly analyzed and framed within the artist’s body of work and its broader historical context. With a flexible and dynamic program, the Booth offers solitary presentations that can be viewed day and night through its glass window, as well as online via their website and Instagram account.

Maak kennis met Jacobs’ Booth, een verfijnd en innovatief platform dat de tentoonstellingsbeleving herdefinieert. Gecentreerd rond een unieke kubusvormige tentoonstellingsunit uit de jaren 1950 en een aanvullend digitaal platform, richt Jacobs’ Booth zich op de diepgaande presentatie van één kunstwerk tegelijk. Elk werk, zorgvuldig geselecteerd door een uitgenodigde curator, wordt grondig geanalyseerd en geplaatst binnen het oeuvre van de kunstenaar en de bredere historische context. Met een flexibel en dynamisch programma biedt de Booth solopresentaties die dag en nacht te bezichtigen zijn door de glazen vitrine, evenals online via hun website en Instagram-account.

OUT OF SIGHT

Founded in 2018 by artists Dušica Dražić and Wim Janssen, OUT OF SIGHT is a unique and dynamic space that draws inspiration from the idea of a shared kitchen table. Much like a meal that brings people together, OUT OF SIGHT fosters meaningful conversations and exchanges around the pressing concerns of the day. After being a member of Antwerp Art until 2022, OUT OF SIGHT has now to Somerstraat 31 in Antwerp, continuing its mission to nurture artistic development and experimentation.

Opgericht in 2018 door kunstenaars Dušica Dražić en Wim Janssen, is OUT OF SIGHT een unieke en dynamische ruimte die inspiratie put uit het idee van een gedeelde keukentafel. Net zoals een diner mensen samenbrengt, bevordert OUT OF SIGHT betekenisvolle gesprekken en uitwisselingen over de dringende kwesties van de dag. Na tot 2022 lid te zijn geweest van Antwerp Art, is OUT OF SIGHT nu verhuisd naar de Somerstraat 31 in Antwerpen, waar het zijn missie voortzet om artistieke ontwikkeling en experimenten te stimuleren.
